Brookfield Zoo

I have been a little behind on my posting lately, not sure what is going on. We went last weekend to Brookfield Zoo. Addy loved it. We had a blast. We met our friend Jonna and her daughter Evie there. The girls had a blast. We haven't been there in awhile so it was fun to go. Here are some pictures from our day!

MEGA BLOKS

Yesterday Jay and I took Addison shopping for something since she got a gift card for her birthday. It really amazes me how many different things are out there now for kids Addy's age, it even more amazes me the people that pay the money for those things. We were really trying to let her pick out something that she wanted since she can tell us what she wants these days. Our mission was to find one of the Ni Hao Kai-Lan figures. She was on a mission to find a character named Hoho. Many of you readers may already be lost if your child isn't into the Noggin channel, okay I am losing you even more. Anyway we went on the search for this Hoho character who we later found out after having Addy point to the character on one of the boxes is a monkey. We looked all over for it and the only thing we could find was a Hoho stuffed character that you can latch onto a backpack and it was around $6. I couldn't believe that this little thing was $6. We let her hold it for awhile, but finally she got her interest into something else so we put it back.

The toy we were really looking to get Addy was some blocks, Legos to be specific, but Jay and I couldn't believe how expensive Legos are?!?! We decided to move on and look at another brand called MEGA BLOKS. I have seen these at a friend's house before and Addy really enjoyed playing with them so when I saw them in the store I was excited to see that Addison liked them too. They are pretty competitive in price and definitely more reasonable than Legos. The more we looked at Legos I noticed that even though they had sets for younger kids the pieces were still a little bit too small and could already see them getting lost.

We decided on the Mega Wagon in pink of course. This wagon came with 20 pieces which Jay and I both thought was more than enough blocks to start her collection. If parents out there haven't seen them or are looking for some blocks to get there child they should really look into the MEGA Brand lines. The MEGA Brand lines start out for ages 0 and up. I did some research on their website and found so many cute sets for babies to toddlers. One of the lines that I am very interested in is their Disney line, big surprise I know. They have the cutest sets and the best thing is there are no real little pieces. I am already looking into Christmas presents.

I can't help think how fast time goes by with Addy's 3rd birthday coming up soon. We still can not believe that our little Addison is turning 3. She has changed the most in this past year. Her vocabulary has taken off in full and she is saying so many things that we look at her and go where did you hear that. I am happy to say that Addy has gotten into the Disney Movies and loves pretty much everything Disney, so she has taken that from her mother. :) One of our biggest challenges lately is potty training and transitioning into a big girl bed. I have to say she is really doing great with the potty training and even the bed situation is getting so much better. Sometimes when I do get frustrated the song "It Won't be like this" by Darius Rucker comes into my head. When I hear that song, I just take a step back and realize that time flies so fast that this current phase we are in will be over before we know it. I will paste the lyrics. It is the best song to listen to being a parent and for those times we get stressed or frustrated. Enjoy!

He didnt have to wake up
He'd been up all nite
Lay'n there in bed listen'n
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK

It wont be like this for long
One day soon we'll look back laugh'n
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
It wont be like this for long

Four years later bout four thirty
She's crawling in there bed
And when he drops her off at preschool
She's clinging to his leg
The teacher peels her off of him
He says what can I do
She says now dont you worry
This will only last a week or two

It wont be like this for long
One day soon we'll drop her off
And she wont even know your gone
This phase is gonna fly by
If you can just hold on
It wont be like this for long

One day soon she'll be a teenager
And at times you'll think she hates him
Then he'll walk her down the isle
And he'll raise her vale
But right now she up and cry'n
And the truth is that he dont mind
As he kisses her good night
And she says her prayers
He lays down there beside her
Till her eyes are finally closed
And just watch'n her it breaks his heart
Cause he already knows
It wont be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
Yeah this phase is gonna fly by
He's try'n to hold on
It wont be like this for long
It wont be like this for long

Jay's birthday

We were able celebrate Jay's birthday on his actual birthday. I made him dinner in the morning and Addy enjoyed sitting with him while he ate. My parents took Addy for the night so Jay and I could have a nice dinner and night out. We went to Lou Malnatis for dinner and went bowling for the first time in forever. We had fun that is for sure. Here are some pictures from the day.
